Text from my friend about his book

Hey guys got a text today from my good friend Chris Seay. He is currently in Honolulu Hawaii at the Season 6 Premiere Event, promoting his book The Gospel According to Lost. He asked me to pass this along to all my fellow friends.

Here is a brief synopsis on his book
An epic journey into the deepest mysteries of our faith.
Lost is NOT just a television show. It has become larger than that-a massive story filled with mystery that has garnered over twenty million participants. Some might call them viewers, but one does not just watch Lost, one participates in it. It demands that you dialogue with the story, seeking theories and comparing yourself to characters. Lost breaks all the formulas for television, and in doing so has drawn together millions of people on a shared journey that explores life, faith, history, science, philosophy, hope, and the basic questions of what it means to be human. It is the seemingly infinite ideas, philosophies, and biblical metaphors that make this story so engaging.
The focus on faith and truth is never more clearly explained than in the words of John Locke as he questions Jack Shepherd asking "Why do you find it so hard to believe?" Jack responds quickly "Why do you find it so easy?" But Locke declares "It's never been easy." This tension between Faith and Reason drives every episode and story line. Locke summed this up as he explained to Jack "That's why you and I don't see eye‐to‐eye sometimes, because you're a man of science…Me, well, I'm a man of faith."

Need your prayers

Hey guys please do me a favor, when you spend time in prayer please lift up a friend of mine named Jason. I met him a couple of years back when he first starting coming to our church. I haven't seen him in quite some time, he got married and began going to another church with his bride. Unfortunately Jason has struggled with addictions and as a result of this he overdosed this weekend. He is currently in the Intensive Care Unit on a ventilator. Please pray for his wife, and for God's will to be done in this situation.

Live to Love.
C

UPDATE: Our friend Jason passed away early this morning...please keep his wife in your prayers.

Discipline

In recent days I am learning the root of many of humanity's issues is lack of discipline. Many people that have crossed my path throughout my journey have struggled financially as a result of not having discipline to not overspend. Many people like myself have struggled with their weight due to lack of discipline with their eating habits. Many people that struggle with gossiping is due to lack of discipline with their tongue. Many children act up or don't obey due to lack of discipline. There are so many problems in life that are a direct result of lack of discipline. My prayer for myself and others that encompass my life is that we continue to strive to seek discipline regardless of the sacrifice that it requires.

The Pursuit

The Pursuit-an effort to capture

Have you ever thought what this world would look like if the majority of people would be persistent in the pursuit of their dreams? I am deeply moved and humbled by Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. In the face of countless adversities, trials, sacrifices, and moments of success Dr King never waffled from his pursuit of his dreams for humanity. I think that is one of the most beautiful aspects of Dr. King, his dream was not self-centered, his dream was not to better himself, but all of humanity. Because of Dr, King I am able to worship at a multi-ethnic church community, have some of the closest friends a guy could wish for that are African American, and truly enjoy the vast differences that humanity brings to the table. Tomorrow as we honor MLK I challenge you to reflect on your dreams, be inspired by Dr. King, and his pursuit of his dream, and most importantly, sacrifice on behalf of your dreams to make this world a better place than when you found it. May you never give up on the pursuit of your dreams.

The Waiting Room

Currently I am sitting in a waiting room waiting to testify at a murder trial. The trial is for the second guy that was involved with the murder of my friend Albert. Surrounded by Albert's family I have to wonder why? Why did this happen to a guy that was allowing God to change his life? His family is so precious, they have become like a second family to me. In all reality even in the midst of this tragic and gruesome experience there is a sense of beauty that has been birthed. Albert desired deeply that his family would not only know the Lord but be active in church. Although my buddy didn't live long enough to see it for himself, his dream has become a reality!
Never give up on your dreams.

Please pray for us this week!

The True Joy of Life

True Joy of Life

This is the true joy of life.
The being used for a purpose
Recognized by yourself as a mighty one.
The being a force of nature
Instead of a feverish, selfish
Little clod of ailments and grievances
Complaining that the world will not
Devote itself to making you happy.
I am of the opinion that my life
Belongs to the whole community
And as long as I live,
It is my privilege to do for it
Whatever I can.
I want to be thoroughly
Used up when I die,
For the harder I work the more I live.
I rejoice in life for its own sake.
Life is no brief candle to me.
It is a sort of splendid torch
Which I've got hold of
For the moment
And I want to make it burn
As brightly as possible before
Handling it on to future generations.
-George Bernard Shaw

Before Death Knocks

Many of us have witnessed the familiar movie bucket list, although it is quite humorous at times, the movie is quite insightful. If you were to pause and truly reflect upon your life, what are some things that you want to do before you die?

See my children married
Adopt a child
Write a New York Bestseller
Visit the Holy Land
Zip line across a deep valley of a mountain
Go homeless for a week and write about my adventure
Go on a two week trip with my wife without any agenda
Eat everything I want for a day without worry about the caloric consequences
Learn a different language
Launch a non profit organization that impacts thousands
Go to a U2 Concert
Attend the Superbowl
Ride in a hot air balloon in Alburque
Scrapbook my struggles and success for my kids to have when I'm gone

Live

Life as we know it at times seems insanely chaotic, as if we are on a roller coaster that never ceases. Yet at times, life seems so incredibly peaceful, as if we are sailing on the calmest sea. Sadly enough, I have came to the realization that at one point in my life, I will take one last breath and life as I know it will come to an end. Recently I have been so deeply convicted to truly live my life to the absolute fullest. This conviction is not birthed out of the fear of the unknown, it is a conviction rooted in the truth that our life is a mere vapor. The sad truth is that many of us won't die instantly from a car wreck, or something else that is so tragic that it instantly takes our life from us. Many of us will lie on our death bed awaiting death to invade our human shell. With my entire being I challenge you to live. Live in such a way, that you chase after your dreams, that you chase ever adventure your soul desires. Live in such a way, that if you have to lie on your death bed and wait for death, you won't lie there in a sea of sheets of regret wishing you would have chased after your dreams. .
