HEARTBROKEN

I am sick to my stomach and absolutely heartbroken upon hearing that a 2 year old boy was beaten to death in our city. I am so sick of hearing violent story after violent story. I have had several recent conversations with officer Jeff my partner with Stop the Violence, I assure you we are going to be more aggressive in doing all we can to bring awareness to our city.

Silence the silence

It has not become public knowledge as of yet, but this Saturday I will be officiating the young man's funeral that was killed in the road rage incident. I share this with those of you that follow my blog so that you might pray for the peace of God to supernaturally reign over this situation. As you know I'm a huge advocate for stopping the violence in our city. I'm so tired of witnessing the devastating pain that is caused as a result of violence.I have witnessed it time and time again. Please join with me to silence the silence to stop the violence.

4 Types of Teachers

Feb 3, 2011 10:52 PM
Whether we want to admit it or not we are all a teacher of some sort. I stumbled across this quote to help me put in perspective what kind of teacher I want to become.

"The mediocre teacher tells. The good teacher explains. The superior teacher demonstrates. The great teacher inspires."

What kind of teacher do you want to become?

New Experiences

This week, even though the weather has been far from cooperating I have been able to witness quite a few new experiences. Driving in the ice and snow without heat in my vehicle, driving for two hours just to get across the city to my office, and taking care of dogs that use to be mine are just a few experiences I encountered this week. But my greatest experience this week has been watching my 6 month old crawl. For those of you that have blessed to be parents, I'm sure you can remember the joy that resonated in your soul the first time you watched your child crawl. The beauty about your child crawling is it provides a visual reminder that growth and transformation is taking place in your child's life. Maybe, just maybe we need to pause and reflect on our own lives and survey the growth and transformation that has taken place in recent months. If your having a tough time identifying any growth or transformation that has recently occurred, the bright side is you still have a chance to see it become apparent. Whether, you crawl, walk, or even run is irrelevant, the thing that matters most long is you are striving to transform.

Renovate

For the last several weeks we have been experiencing a season of renovation at Mission Abilene. It has been amazing to watch so many different walks of life sacrifice a good portion of their time for this cause. There is no denying the fact that renovation is difficult, time consuming, and demanding, yet worthwhile. The beauty about renovation is once it is complete, you can witness the transformation first hand. Much like a neglected wall that is desperate for a new coat of paint our souls at times cry out for renovation, the act of restoring to life, vigor, or activity. When is the last time you allowed your soul to experience renovation?

The Other Side

The last several weeks have been extremely heavy. There have been so many struggles of pain that was birthed from illnesses, troublesome marriages, surgeries, and even death. In all reality life at times seems so overwhelming. constantly we are left with a choice to make. The choice is either to drown in a sea of pain or to swim to the other side. If we chose to swim to the other side, we are able to find hope and healing.

Don't miss this Sunday, as we learn all about the other side.
