Schools Out Forever

Schools Out Forever, I have to laugh as I type because during my high school years each year on the last day of school I would jam out to that song. This Summer I plan to continue to update my house, complete 4 writing projects, Officiate and Participate in quite a few weddings, and hopefully get some time out of town to take a few deep breaths. What about you, I would love to hear about your plans!!!

Need Your Feedback

When you think of the word Christian what comes to your mind? Or let me rephrase that question, if you are a Christian, before you came to Christ, what did you think of when you heard the word Christian?

Mall Cop

So like I mentioned in a previous post my family is out of town for a few days. Therefore I am catching up on a lot of unfinished projects around my house. This morning, as I began my day, I started to sand our kitchen cabinets. Needless to say, my first cabinet didn't come out too good. You can see it featured in the corner of this post. Ha Ha I felt like Paul Blart on Mall Cop when he got a cut on his arm. I bled quite a bit, in all honesty I was scared I needed stitches because of the amount of blood. Even now, I can't quit laughing as I blog. What happened next is I took the horrifying leap to finally execute every ounce of courage within me. I look down, pull the shard of glass out of my knee and in disbelief I notice my horrifying cut was gigantic, the truth was it was about an inch long. Ha Ha. Life, at times you just have to pause and laugh.

I enclosed a clip of Mall Cop just for laughs

Not Forgotten

Yesterday was the anniversary of the death of one of my friends, who I had the great privilege to witness God transform him. Albert though you might be gone, you are not forgotten, your legacy will continue to live on.

STOP THE VIOLENCE AUG 27TH, 2011

Here is Albert's obituary.

Burial will follow in Elmwood Memorial Park, directed by Abilene Funeral Home. Mr. Cadena was born on April 30, 1979, in El Paso to Carlos and Lidia Cadena. He had been a resident of Abilene since 2001.

Survivors include his wife, Maria Cadena of Abilene; two sons, Domanik Damien Cadena of Abilene and Albert Vincent Cadena of California; two daughters, Celina Marie Martinez of Abilene and Destiny Marie Cadena of California; his parents, Carlos and Lidia Cadena of Abilene; three brothers, Carlos Cadena, Jr. of El Paso, Adrian Cadena and Alex Cadena, both of Abilene; a sister, Melissa Cadena Rodriguez and husband Victor of Abilene; and his grandparents, Justina Cadena and Matilde Ramirez.

New Lego Box

Early this morning my Ash and double trouble aka (Alexis and Sadie) caught a flight to Houston to surprise Ash's Grandma for her 80 birthday. Today I spent most of my day tackling some household projects, and tonight I was able to catch dinner with my great parents. Throughout the night, my father and I talked about sports, and the fond memories that we made during my athletic career, but more importantly than my sports accolades were the conversations that centered around my childhood friends. I found this portion of our conversation the most intriguing. My Dad and I would constantly say, "I wonder where they ended up?" Then I would mention another person and my Dad would say, "Hmm, I wonder what they are doing?"

Sadly enough don't we do that as Christians as well? Life gets busy and we disconnect from our community. We lose touch, and eventually the body of Christ as a result of our selfishness looks like a box of new legos waiting to be connected.

As a new day arrives, I dare you to catch up with somebody that you haven't grabbed a cup of coffee with in a long time, make time for that person that God has placed on your heart for weeks, or simply enjoy community some how, some way.

The sun stood still

Today we witnessed the sun stand still at Mission Abilene. Our church community donated our entire offering to pay for a Water filteration system that will provide clean water to approximately 3000 people in Brazil. Glory to God

Lost Sleep

The last several days have been extremely painful around our household. Our little Sadie, had an incredibly hard time cutting her upper front tooth. Countless nights of lost sleep, witnessing your lil one be in pain is quite tough to witness. I'm happy to say that Sadie did, finally cut her front tooth, so needless to say our house has got a little bit more sleep recently. I thought I would share with you a pic that was taken prior to her tooth finally breaking through.
