chapter 3 challenge

Galatians 3

In Galatians 3 we see Paul still battling with the Galatians on the reality of how they were justified before God. The Galatians had been exposed to some untruthful teaching and were buying into it. They believed they were still under the law. Wow, right out of the gate Paul addresses them boldly. Paul is kind of shocked how the Galatians missed the truth. Paul proceeds to go in depth what it means to live under the law, which he elaborates as being under the curse, pretty intense. Paul isn’t saying the law is bad, but what he is saying is God motive with the law was not created for us to find our approval before Him. God, all knowing, knew we could not keep up with the law, therefore that is why Jesus had to accomplish what he did at the cross.
Look at verse 23-24 “Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law, having become a curse for us (for it is written, “Cursed is everyone who hangs on a tree”), that the blessing of Abraham might come upon the Gentiles in Christ Jesus, that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith.”
So much of humanity attempts to find their identity in so many different things, prosperity, materialism, popularity, work, etc. God’s word states our identity can only be found in one thing, In verse 26-27 scripture states “For you are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus. For as many of you as were baptized into Christ have put on Christ.”
We can only have true identity once we put our faith in Christ.
