New Lense

Over the last several weeks I have been looking at things through a different lense. For example when I look at things I ponder what I could do to make it better, more effective, and more durable. Whether it is a wall in the church building, a personal relationship, or something around the house, I have constantly noticed there is always room for improvement. Yet one of my greatest weaknesses has been for whatever reason, not excuberating the effort that is required to create the improvement. As of recently there is a drive and urgency that resides in the depths of my bones that I have to excercise. In the days ahead, if you are a member of the Mission Abilene you will notice projects that display this conviction.

Here is just a taste of what is happening...

INVENTORY

As I welcome in the new year, new year's resolutions, new focuses, new plans swim in my sea of thoughts. Yet in all honesty, there is no way any of those will persevere unless I take time to inventory all that has come into existence in my life throughout the past year.

As you enter the new year will you join me in taking time to look in the rearview to evaluate the things we need to sharpen to make this new year more productive.

MARGIN

Sometimes it seems like the only way to keep up with all the demands on our lives is to run at maximum capacity—and then some. But there is another way...one where we have room to breathe and space to respond to what life brings our way. Come explore what it means to live with Margin starting this Sunday.

War, Peace, Better

As I was researching material for the new year I stumbled across this quote, I found it challenging and intriguing all in the same breath.

"Be always at war with your vices, at peace with your neighbors, and let each new year find you a better man."

~Benjamin Franklin
