Perish

Proverbs 29:18 states "where there is no vision people perish."

This year I am going to do all I possibly can to focus on 3 things.

1) Being different
2) Believing God for the impossible
3) Reevaluating how I define success

What are your focuses?

Enjoy

I pray this Christmas you enjoy good conversation, good food, and most of all the good news that Christ was born to give us the opportunity to be heirs of redemption.

--update--
I have been so behind in blogging and plan to change that as we welcome in the new year.

Not Present but Presence

In retrospect as I ask myself "What is the best present I have ever received," it set me back in a whirlwind of reflection. No it was the air jordan tennis shoes, the nintendo gaming station, or the bicycle with the cool wheels, in fact it was a present, it was presence. It was the presence of first and foremost Jesus Christ in my life, and secondly it was and continues to be the presence of family and friends that have served as a constant sense of support through my times of success and strife. I am truly grateful for presence.

Portraits

Time, something that occasionally seems to stand still yet at other times can be found speeding away. The past four months I have become quite aware how quickly time can fade as I look into my four month old's eyes. I find myself at any chance I get taking portraits not only of little Sadie, but really anything I want to capture as a memory. I pray that as you live your life you take a little bit of time from the chaos to take portraits!

Old Artist

Pablo Picasso once wrote,
"Every child is an artist. The problem is how to remain an artist once he grows up."

Blame it on my A.D.D. or my creative drive, throughout my life I have always loved to sketch out things. It has been a great joy to watch Lexi, my 10 year old grasp the same passion. Last night I had the privilege to sit down with my 10 year old and decorate paper bags with Christmas themes for prisoners who won't get anything for Christmas.

Like Pablo Picasso who once said,
"Every child is an artist. The problem is how to remain an artist once he grows up." I believe that one of humanity's objectives should be to strive to create works of art not just with pencil and pad but with our lives.

Will you and I remain an artist even when our age matures, only time will tell.

FLASH

"One day your life will flash before your eyes. Make sure its worth watching."

Many people that know me best are aware that I have a passion for chronicling my thoughts as a result of already having two books published with a few more quickly approaching. But few people know that I love to watch documentaries about peoples' lives. In all honesty peoples' stories in my opinion are sometimes the greatest undiscovered treasures on the planet. Even though these treasures surround us daily, very few take the opportunity to discover them. I want to always be remembered as a person that did all they could to discover.

I once read "One day your life will flash before your eyes. Make sure its worth watching."

This quote provides a daily reminder that resonates deep within me to live my life in such a way that when the time on my life clock runs out, my imprint will remain. An imprint that was created not on fame, riches, or success, but on the deep conviction to make this world a little more brighter than when I found it.

YOU WANT TO SEE A MIRACLE

So this past week Bruce Almighty was on TV, and yes, I must confess I did watch it. Before you classify me as a heretic, there was a beautiful quote that I took away from the movie.

"You want to see a miracle? Be the miracle."

If I could change one thing in the world, it would be just that. I would transform people from being consumers to becoming contributors. Can you imagine what this world would look like if everyone did all they could to contribute to this world? It would be radically different.
