In John chapter 18 we see a complete display of power.
Scripture reads, “And Judas, who betrayed Him, also knew the place; for Jesus often met there with His disciples. Then Judas, having received a detachment of troops, and officers from the chief priests and Pharisees, came there with lanterns, torches, and weapons. Jesus therefore, knowing all things that would come upon Him, went forward and said to them, "Whom are you seeking?" They answered Him, "Jesus of Nazareth." Jesus said to them, "I am He." And Judas, who betrayed Him, also stood with them. Now when He said to them, "I am He," they drew back and fell to the ground.”
When Jesus spoke to them “I AM HE,” the religious leaders fell to the ground. It still deeply shocks me that the religious leaders didn’t have an awakening experience at that exact moment when they fell down. How in the world could they not recognize that Jesus’ power was from the Creator of the world? Yet as a result of their calloused hearts, they were unable to acknowledge Jesus of Nazareth, as the Savior of all of humanity.
Another interesting portion of this chapter is Jesus even to the point of him being arrested still looked out for his followers. Scripture states, “He asked them again, "Whom are you seeking?" And they said, "Jesus of Nazareth." Jesus answered, "I have told you that I am He. Therefore, if you seek Me, let these go their way," Jesus willingly gave Himself up so He could protect His disciples. How incredible.
