Chapter 4 Eph

In Chapter 4 and to the end of the letter Paul encourages the Ephesians to carry themselves in a manner that is worthy of their calling. Paul encourages and pleads with them to walk in unity with each other.

Ephesians 4:1-6 reads, “As a prisoner for the Lord, then, I urge you to live a life worthy of the calling you have received. Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love. Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace. There is one body and one Spirit—just as you were called to one hope when you were called— one Lord, one faith, one baptism; one God and Father of all, who is over all and through all and in all.

Then Paul challenges them to walk in purity, Paul reminds them how they once were as Gentiles, and then he calls them to remember the truth which is found in only Jesus. He reminds them to put off the old man’s selfish ways and put on the new man of found in Christ. Scripture states in verse 22-24, “You were taught, with regard to your former way of life, to put off your old self, which is being corrupted by its deceitful desires; to be made new in the attitude of your minds; and to put on the new self, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness.”
