Col 4

As Paul wraps up this letter, he displays a great desire that his readers would dedicate themselves to prayer and thanksgiving. He even asks them to pray for him, that GOD would continue to be given the opportunity to make the mystery of Christ Known.

Colossians 4:2-4 Devote yourselves to prayer with an alert mind and a thankful heart. Pray for us, too, that God will give us many opportunities to speak about his mysterious plan concerning Christ. That is why I am here in chains. Pray that I will proclaim this message as clearly as I should.

Paul then mentions several of his partners, Tychicus and Onesimus, who seem to be the carriers of this letter. Paul has given them instruction to update the Colossians on his current condition.

Colossians 4:7-9 Tychicus will give you a full report about how I am getting along. He is a beloved brother and faithful helper who serves with me in the Lord’s work. I have sent him to you for this very purpose—to let you know how we are doing and to encourage you. I am also sending Onesimus, a faithful and beloved brother, one of your own people. He and Tychicus will tell you everything that’s happening here.

I love the fact that in verse 10-15 we see so many people wanting to send their greeting to the Colossians, what a beautiful image of the body of Christ encouraging one another in love.

Paul closes out the letter with the words…

Here is my greeting in my own handwriting—Paul.
Remember my chains.
May God’s grace be with you.

I don’t know if there is a more powerful statement of faith that can be found…
