Right out of the gate in John chapter 7 we see a challenge taking place. Jesus is challenged by his brotherhood that if he really did have all of this superpower then he should go and display it in Jerusalem. How difficult it must have been for him to witness his own brotherhood not believe in him for a substantial amount of time. I love the fact as the story unfolds people began to talk about Jesus some said he was “good,” yet others declared that he was just the opposite. What’s ironic is as a result of the their fear of the Jews, they wouldn’t say their perspective out loud.
I love as we journey down in chapter 7 we see in verse 37-39 Jesus declaring boldly for people to come to him, that he was the one to quench the inner thirst of humanity.
Then in verse 50-52 we see Nicodemus take a small stand on Christ’ behalf. Any stand is better than no stand at all.
