John 11 21/21
As we open up Chapter 11 in the book of John we discover an incredible story about a man named Lazarus, who is very ill and ultimately dies. As we read, we are reminded that there is no doubt about it that Jesus had a close relationship with this family. As we journey on down in the story, I love Thomas’s faith he even states let us also go, that we may die with him. What a beautiful example of what a true disciple of Jesus Christ looks like, he will follow even if it will cost his life. As Jesus comes upon the scene, his path crosses with Martha, Lazarus sister. It is obvious that Martha is disappointed because her brother had already died, if Jesus would have been there she is definite that the result would have been different. “I am the resurrection and the life,” what an incredible factual and powerful statement Jesus declares. This statement gives all of us that believe, it confirms the reality that Jesus has demolished death for those who sought out salvation through him. Jesus goes on to say, “He who believes in Me, though he may die, he shall live.” What a beautiful promise! Then later on in the story we see Jesus’ compassion as the word of God states, “Jesus wept.” I also like the fact that Jesus told them to remove the stone once again Jesus got humanity involved in his miracle efforts. Then when Jesus determines the correct time he raises Lazarus.
