John 12 21/21

Right at the beginning of John 12 we see Lazarus sitting with Jesus at the table which is pretty amazing considering he was dead a few days prior. Another interesting fact the dinner is a less than a week prior to Jesus death. What incredible faith Mary displayed as she cracked open the expensive oil and anointed Jesus’ feet. She EVEN wipes his feet with her hair. What a beautiful image of worship and loyalty. Then leave it to Judas to complain about the sacrifice of worship. One thing that is interesting as we continue to read in chapter 12, the crowd greets Jesus as the coming King, HOSANNA! BLESSED IS HE WHO COMES IN THE NAME OF THE LORD, yet in just a few days their praises would turn to curses.
Jesus expresses his troubled soul, as he communicates with the Father through prayer. Then he transitions the prayer into glorification of His Father, “glorify YOUR name.” Jesus was all about the Father’s business.
I love how this chapter closes out, Jesus declaring that he has come as light into the world. We must consistently ask ourselves as we journey in our faith as a result of the way we live, do we add light to this world?
